Alethea Jones keeps busy
as a director, writer, actor and choreographer.
Her latest short film, Lemonade Stand was the winner of Tropfest 2012. Another of her shorts, When the Wind Changes recently won Best Short Film at the IF awards (2011). Since premiering at the Melbourne International FilmFestival (2010) as part of its Accelerator program, it has received awards including the Audience Choice at both Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival, where it also won Best Comedy. When the Wind Changes has enjoyed screenings at international film festivals including - Zurich, Prague, Beverly Hills, St Louis, Brisbane and the Friars Comedy Festival - New York and L.A Comedy Shorts. During her film studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, Alethea was the recipient of an ACS award for cinematography and her graduating short film musical, The Girl in the Moon, won St Kilda Film Festival’s Craft Award (2008). As a choreographer, Alethea has worked with Operator Please, Delta Goodrem, Kisschasy, Children Collide, Rezzalp and Sisters Grim Theatre Company. |
![]() 2011 saw Alethea write and direct her first documentary, Tissue, commissioned by the ABC as part of Matchbox Pictures Anatomy series. She's one of three directors on the web series Cop Hard who direct under the pseudonym - Charles C. Custer and has also completed two directors attachments on television series Rush (Andrew Prowse) and Neighbours (Peter Sharp). Alethea loves thinking up strange ways to make people laugh (in film and life). |
